This is a strongly odoriferous shrub that can grow to five feet. It blooms from July to November, when almost all other plants around the Mediterranean have already flowered and dried out in the summer heat. The bright yellow flowers grow at the intersection of the stalk and a leaf. There are 27 additional species of lnula. : Inula viscosa can be found throughout the Mediterranean area on vacant land and along roads up to an elevation of 2,600 feet . Material used for dyeing: Flowers, leaves and stems,preferably fresh.Historical Data
In the literature, Inula viscosa. has not been mentioned as a dyeplant. The characteristic dyestuffs could, however, be identified in several antique carpets from the area around Bergama . In villages in Western Turkey , this plant is used to protect against moths and is also said to drive off lice and fleas.
