Spanish Broom (Spartium junceum L.) is a golden yellow flowering perennial with green cylindrical shrub, growing to 1 to 3 meters tall. It is common in the Black Sea, Aegean and Mediterranean regions. It is widely distributed in the heathlands near the sea.

Historical Data
It is known as a good dye plant due to the high fastnesses of the dyestuff it contains. In the past it was used in wool dyeing.

Dyeing process
It is done with the dried flowers of the plant by mordant dyeing method.
